Lodge Visit to Lodge. Livingstone St John No 573. Motherwell

On the 29th of May 2008, the Worshipful Master and 10 brethren visited the Lodge of Livingstone St. Andrew, Motherwell, Scotland, to perform the English first degree, which was organised by WBro J L Hendry.  The candidate was WBro H Maxwell from the Motherwell Lodge, who embraced the whole ceremony, and helped to make the whole experience very enjoyable indeed.

The brethren who took part in the ceremony were as follows.
Worshipful Master S D Longfellow
Past Master W Bro L J Hendry
Preceptor W Bro W R Burns
Senior Warden W Bro J T Bolton
Junior Warden Bro J R Simpson
Senior Deacon Bro G E Foster
Junior Deacon Bro M Stevens
Tyler P Duffy
Bro C Harding
And W Bro E Hirst & W Bro J F Ambler

The ceremony was completed and the Right Worshipful Master Robin T Boyd, congratulated all the officers and brethren who took part in the ceremony, which he felt was a great success, and stated that he and the brethren felt that Leodiensis Lodge 4029 was their sister lodge in England.
Quite a few of the brethren and their ladies stayed in Scotland and had a very good weekend indeed, all agreed that they would look forward to visiting the lodge in the future.

Swimming the Channel.

As we are all aware, charity is a very big part of what we are about, and some of the brethren really do push the boat out, no pun intended. We are very lucky indeed to have one such brothor in Bro Geoff Taylor, who on the 20th of July 2006 swam the English Channel. Geoff raised £4,500 for Marie Currie, and through his hard work he raised the profile of the charity in no small way.

What a fantastic sum to raise for this marvellous charity, you may think, and rightly so, but Geoff had to raise a further £1,800 before he could even start the swim as each person completing has to pay for the boat and all other expenses.

Geoff would like to give a special thank you to the skipper, Reg Bicknell, for all the assistance given and all his friends who made the swim such a great success.
